Life in the new house

Thank you to all of you who wished us well.

Steve is disappointed, he was hoping our home might have paranormal guests since it was built in 1880, but so far none have come to visit. Not that I'm terribly disappointed, I'd almost prefer to keep it that way. The boys are settling in fine, they absolutely love having the space to run around in the yard. However, Aidan hasn't yet figured out that he needs to do his bathroom in the backyard instead of waiting until we go for a walk.

Our grass is finally coming in, we spent so much time on the back yard. We spent about 8 hours just pulling up, raking and cutting away tree roots. The roots had completely taken over the yard. We have since been able to get some grass sprouting and planted a nice little garden around the back fence.

I think the plants I am most excited about are my holly bushes. We purchased them from Home Depot and I am absolutely loving them. As we were checking out the cashier told us "you know you have a girl, right?" Well, the first thing that was running through my mind was what the hell does she know that I don't. Then she pointed to the holly and said your holly is a girl. Let me tell you, I sighed in relief and then started asking questions about the holly. So once I learned that to get the pretty red berries you have to have a boy and a girl within ten feet of each other. Steve and I went home without a boy at that first trip but while planning the layout of the garden we decided that it wouldn't look complete without the boy holly as well.

We moved!

We have finally moved into the new house! We have waited for this for so long that it almost feels surreal. Some of my family from Vermont came down to help us move, they are so amazing. Steve and I had everything packed and then after we signed all of the papers on Friday morning with their help we had everything moved in by Friday night.

We had a moderate hiccup, the new furnace had run out of oil and then once it got some the pump wouldn't pull it into the furnace. As you can imagine there was some freaking out. The seller, who is wonderful, called the heating man who installed the furnace and he came down on a Sunday to help us.

Here are a few photos of the house. The last one is of the boys enjoying their new house.
